Creating Texture in a Spring Garden
One of the most important elements in garden design is texture. In the Pacific Northwest, where gardens remain lush for much of the year, combining foliage shapes and plant structures creates movement, softness, and visual interest throughout the seasons.
We love pairing airy ornamental grasses with broad-leaf perennials, evergreen shrubs, and flowering vines to create gardens that feel layered and natural. Texture becomes especially important in spring when fresh foliage emerges and contrasts beautifully against stone, gravel, and weathered wood.
Natural materials play an equally important role. A carefully placed boulder, steel edging, or gravel pathway can ground a planting design and give the garden a timeless, sophisticated atmosphere.
Our goal is always to create outdoor spaces that feel both refined and deeply connected to nature.
